• Wedding and Event Photographer

Hey there, my name is Jim Powell and I'm an Event and Wedding Photographer. Thanks for stopping by! I shoot Weddings, Mitzvahs, Anniversaries, and more. This is where I show some of the shots from events, and occasionally post some non wedding shots too.

Looking to learn a little more about my photography? My event and wedding portfolio is here, or you can browse through some of my past events. You can also visit jimpowellphoto.com to see my non-wedding photography.

I'm currently based in Singapore, but I'm constantly back in the US for shoots. I'm regularly in NYC, Jersey, Philly, and Delaware for events, so if you need a great photographer, let me know and see if I'm around when you need me!

Lisa and Travis – Engagement Shoot – Singapore

It’s been a little while since I’ve gotten around to adding a new blog post to my site, but this weekend I had a fun engagement shoot in Singapore with Lisa and Travis, so I wanted to make sure I posted a few shots.  We luckily managed to avoid the rain that was hanging around most of the day, and while we were initially concerned about the lack of sun, it’s probably better that it wasn’t too sunny. While it was by no means cool, it at least made hiking around the botanical gardens a bit more bareable, and we got some fun shots!

Lauren and Randy – Rittenhouse Square Wedding – Philadelphia

Lauren and Randy came in to Philadelphia from Singapore to celebrate their wedding day with their family and close friends.  Once you have a chance to meet their friends and family, it’s clear why they chose to come back for the wedding, rather than stay in the South East Asia area for a wedding… they’re all great!  Sure small beach weddings are fun too, but without this crew, it just wouldn’t have been the same.

Weddings like this are what make me love my job.  The bride and groom were fun, goofy, and stress free.  And to top it off, the bridal party and family were just as fun and friendly. Everyone just focused on having a good time.  To me… that’s what weddings are supposed to be about!

Jesi’s Sweet 16 – NJ sweet 16 Photography

Summertime parties are always fun, but wow… was this a great party! I guess anytime you can surround yourself with dozens of your best friends, throw in some good music and food, it’s bound to be a good time. This night certainly had all of the necessities for a good time… lots of dancing, a few front-flips into the pool, and don’t forget the fire dancer!

Sharon and Kevin – NYC Engagement Session Pt. 2

So last month we had to cut the engagement session with Sharon and Kevin a little short.  The weather in NYC that day turned cold and cloudy, so we decided to get the last few locations another day.  Fortunately this time it was about 25 degrees warmer, and sunny!  Perfect day to get the last of our pictures.  We wound up finding some great places to shoot, and I think we got some great stuff.  Let us know what you think!

Citizen Cope Photography – City Winery – NYC

I tried out a new lens tonight while photographing a Citizen Cope acoustic concert at the City Winery in NYC. While I realized quickly I don’t love the lens, I really enjoyed the concert! I will say though, while Clarence Greenwood is a great songwriter, and the show was certainly a good one, he’s not the easiest guy to photograph. I think it took a little while for him to loosen up and smile a bit. It can be difficult to photograph someone who doesn’t look like he is enjoying himself. But he did eventually get into it, the show livened up, and I wound up getting a few shots that I really like. I wonder if it was the coconut water and whiskey that did the trick?
