Hey there, my name is Jim Powell and I'm an Event and Wedding Photographer. Thanks for stopping by! I shoot Weddings, Mitzvahs, Anniversaries, and more. This is where I show some of the shots from events, and occasionally post some non wedding shots too.

Birthday Party in Edison, NJ

I was recently out at Akbar, an Indian Restaurant in Edison NJ, to photograph a 1st birthday party. It was one of the first days of perfect weather this spring so I was very excited to be able to shoot in a place that had a ton of natural light, and also had access to a huge outside area, where everyone spent a lot of time. Not only were all of the guests a pleasure to hang out with, but Krish, the birthday boy, was quick to smile and clearly had a great time. Here are a few shots from the party.

Australian Wedding in New York City

Last week I worked with a couple, Susan and Simon, who came in all the way from Melbourne Australia to get married in New York City. It was just the two of them at the actual wedding, but the party was waiting back at home to help them celebrate! Sometimes I think that’s the best way to do it… keep the wedding simple, and then have a huge party later on! The ceremony was short and sweet, and then we explored NYC making sure to properly document their day. Here are a few highlights.

Birthday party in Hoboken

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the first birthday party for a beautiful girl named Saachi, right here in Hoboken. The event took place right on the Hudson, with an amazing view overlooking NYC. It may not have been the best weather that day, but it didn’t seem to dampen anyone’s fun as everyone really seemed to have a great time! Here are a few pictures of the day.

Alex’s Bar Mitzvah – Radnor Hotel, Wayne PA

Last month Alex had his Bar Mitzvah at the Radenor Hotel in Wayne, PA., and I had the honor of photographing the event. What a fun day it was! His sister and parents are outrageously cool, and Alex… well lets just say that I haven’t met too many people his age who know music like he does! His table place holders were 12″ vinyl albums of some of his favorite artists. I was thrilled to see stuff like the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Rush, Bowie, Van Halen, Pearl Jam, Hendrix, etc. How cool is that!? And his sign in book was a beautiful candy red electric guitar. I wonder if I just witnessed the Bar Mitzvah of a future Rock & Roll legend?

Allison and Jacob – Engagement Photography – Hoboken, NJ

What a cold day for an engagement session! Fortunately Jacob and Allison did a great job of fighting off the cold, and I’m quite thankful that it was sunny or it might have been too unbearable for all of us. All said and done, we had a great time wandering around Hoboken, and I think the results made the bitter cold worth it. Especially the one shot of Alison shivering… that may be my favorite! It was completely unplanned, but both of them have priceless expressions and I can’t help but smile when I look at it.
